Testimony from Adia, member of Ancestral Elevation Coaching Program

You're here because you desire three things:

  • psychological care
  • fair opportunities for promotion/advancement
  • space to dismantle the strong black woman persona to eliminate the need to 'perform' in the workspace.

So, there's no need to work against the fence of white supremacy!

Rather, work within the framework of Hoodoo that resolves personal and communal injustice without playing systematic games that upholds the injustice.

  • Hoodoo isn't a religion. Hoodoo is a spiritual tradition cultivated from chattel slavery that focuses on justice and liberation for the community and individual needs.
  • Operating in whiteness ain't gonna safe you. Waiting for white supremacy to dismantle itself is time you don’t have.
  • Hoodoo is ancestral and black folks inheritance. We acknowledge you may be unfamiliar with ancestral veneration. In Black In Plain Sight, we seek to help you begin, strengthen and expand this practice to receive what your uplifted, enlightened, protective and benevolent ancestors are willing to safely give you, which is your mantle as a root worker.

Here's what you will receive in our program:

  • 3 weekly sessions per month
  • 1 monthly grief workshop
  • 1 monthly 'body reclamation' workshop
  • 1 monthly 'stroytelling and hoodoo' workshop

Testimony from Selena B

''Mama Cody and Dorothyshouse helped me through one of the hardest times in my life. After the murder of my brother I was lost, angry, depressed and completely in survival mode.  The sessions had with Mama Cody gave me something to look forward to each week. Helped me out the darkness and helped me to start to see a glimpse of my own power. Even as a reiki master, sound healer and overall spiritual woman, there were still so many gems shared and a lot of lessons and wisdom offered. If you are truly seeking growth or help in your journey I highly recommend working with Dorothys House.''

Kyana Palmer

''My experience with Dorothy’s House has been amazing. I came across Mama Cody’s page on TikTok and I’m so glad I did. Since joining Dorothy’s House, I’ve become more confident with trusting my intuition, I had a better understanding of the power of vulnerability and most of all, I’ve learned to make peace with decisions I’ve made. My healing journey has been long and often, I’m in my head about things that honestly, happened the way they happened. I made decisions in the past that weighed on me. The very first lesson was about making peace with decisions because essentially, it can impact the frequency that you operate in. It was simple, smooth and to the point. Quite profound. Since the very first lesson, I’ve applied this way of thinking in my life, and it has had a profound impact on a lot. I have less anxiety and guilt about certain things. Also, I have a very hectic work schedule, so, the option to be able to go back and review recorded sessions is so awesome! I’m so grateful for Dorothy’s House. It is a safe space to help you heal and have a deeper, better understanding of somethings on deep soul/spiritual level. If you join, you will not be disappointed. Infinite blessing!''

Cody, it is an honor to send this testimonial as a non-student of yours but definitely a benefactor of your work. While Eye have gotten a couple of your offerings (all very effective and soul lifting), your online presence and messages are ALWAYS on-time and in-time for Me. You truly have gifts bestowed from the Supreme Creator of Existence. Being a member of the liberation community, My walk is not exactly typical and while Eye overstand the journey of de-indoctrination and deconstruction, they are not exactly My place of origin (although familiar with that landscape), you have unknowingly help Me traverse and pave My own path.

Sis, you have given Me answers to questions Eye have yet to ask because no one had shown themselves capable of answering. And then here you come with LIBATION! Through libations, Eye have received the answers to the questions Eye had yet to ask of anyone. Not only are the words profound but the spirit and soul attached, the affect goes beyond the words Cody! (Whew! Eye’m tearing up writing this!)

Thank you for using your gifts in the way you do. Eye thank Spirit and your benevolent ancestors, angels and guides for supporting you in your work because it is necessary and needed.

During one of my first experiences with Dorothy’s House, Cody told me that 2022 would be a year of transformation for me. At the time, I had no idea how much she and the community provided me. And that Dorothy’s House would serve as a catalysts for my emotional growth and spiritual development. I entered the community knowing that I was wounded, but I had become so desensitized that I couldn’t even pinpoint the locations of those wounds. Mama Cody has a way of provoking deep thought and encouraging vulnerability that can only be described as transformational. Cody speaks this affirmation over us regularly — “I’m fully divine, fully human, and therefore, fully worthy.” As a result of Dorothy’s House, I have been able to begin to tap into my divinity, while taking authority over my human experience, allowing me to feel a sense of worthiness that my inner child could only dream of.

Key benefits of

Black In Plain Sight

This is a space of salvation. Someone said to me, 'rootwork and conjure is salvation.' Hoodoo isn't just how our ancestors survived, but thrived within oppression IN PLAIN SIGHT.

Black women's healing each other creates a strong, more rooted currency. Sometimes root workers need the help of another trusted worker. As you participate in this space, you will have a group of women to call on to assist you when you need it.

The resources and community are always growing. Womanism - through the lens of Hoodoo - is a living practice. Its garden is always fresh with roses and lilies of knowledge. There will always be ease and pleasure available for us to continue our liberated journey with joy and happiness.

There is always a fresh fountain here. Whenever you need support, this space will have the resources in its archive for you to browse in your own time and the people to collectively learn and grow together in real time.

Love Letter to Black Women

It’s not about being strong or weak. It is about being human. Our humanity is the gift to ourselves. In our humanity is the expansion of our liberation. I recall Jade T. Perry saying, 'our body is earth, too.' From birth we've had the advantage to be in alignment with nature. Due to whiteness, conformity and capitalism, our bodies has been exploited instead next to nature. Our bodies sustain our humanity. Whether you join this program or not, what practices are you willing to embody that holds you accountable to the fact that your body sustains your humanity? That your divinity needs your humanity so you can thrive in dis here life? Allowing the persona of the strong black woman to consume your body, and  humanity will not get you there.

Sincerely,

Mama Cody
