Welcome to Dorothy's House:
A multidimensional healing space positioning you to dismantle toxic conformity, embrace spiritual gifts, and intuition. To discover authenticity by creating liberating practices and moral efforts that center the experiences and expertise of Black women.

WHO IS Dorothy?
Dorothy Thompson (MAMA DOT) is my grandmother. I wasn’t raised in the church. I was spiritually raised in my granny’s living room, which was my sanctuary and her lap was my altar. I curated Dorothy’s House to honor my granny’s legacy of spiritual mentoring, intercession, and prophecy. Secondly, I dedicated this house to every woman that was and is exiled due to their calling, magic, and gifts. ALL women — and men — whether you’re a pastor, housewife, stay-at-home mom, preacher, tarot reader, witch, hoodoo practitioner, reiki or yoga, teacher, intercessor, therapist, writer, church mother, etc are welcomed into Dorothy’s House.
Enter Dorothy's House!

I began my quest to healing and liberation via a prayer, "Lawd, help me to be the REAL me. I want to be free."
My name is Cody- she/they. I'm an intuitive healer, spiritual doula, alchemist, pastor, etc. I am Dorothy's Thompson granddaughter, Ase.
I prayed that prayer nearly seven years ago. Since then, I discovered things I believed God would never approve of, such as being a lesbian, a witch (healer), a poly-girl, and a FREE BLACK WOMAN!
The second best prayer of my life was, "Spirit, show me how loving women sexually or non-sexually is holy and just in your eyes?"
And my whole life flashed before me in a manner of weeks. My body was gracefully eager to remind me of attractions I buried due to internalized homophobia. My authenticity took paths I assumed/was taught were forbidden, and ease found its way into my life; ease stopped sitting on my front porch and walked into my living room, quenching my thirst from theological drought. From that point, freedom felt free with me. As I dived deeper into healing and liberation, I couldn't forget my grandmother, Dorothy Thompson, Ase. She was everything to me; she was God in my eyes. She has repented in the sunset (the space our ancestors thrive).
Her living room was my sanctuary, and her lap was my altar. I knew I was called to preach and pastor sitting at her feet. I became an intercessor and a prophet sitting at her feet.
I didn't need the institutional church or a man to approve me. Instead, I was called sitting at my grandmother's feet, who operated in the fivefold. There wasn't a gift my grandma didn't use for a length of time or for a moment; alchemy surrounded her. While she was imperfect, she was honest. While her process wasn't always healthy, her intent was to heal and liberate. While she wasn't the best mother, she became an extraordinary grandmother. And now, when I speak to her, she doesn't sound the same because she has repented in the sunset. My goal in life, with this work, is to make her proud, to make her famous. To let everyone know, my soul was anchored in the Lawd in Dorothys' House!
The ethics (moral codes) of Dorothy's House:
We are sacramental: always acting as evidence of god's grace!
We embody the idea of sacrament as ethical because it assists in operating within a balanced narrative, which is that we ALL are fully human and divine. Secondly, it roots the truth that ALL are qualified to fully exist, to offer Spirit's love, word, and justice as we currently are. Sacraments and offering our spiritual gifts as sacraments require no perfection. Rather, it demands the will to exist and allow those willing to receive you as you fully exist without exception outside of love and without hesitation.
We are salvation: the presence of wellness, wholeness, and healing!
Dorothy's House operates from a womanist perspective, which centers on the experiences, expertise, and awareness of Black women. Womanism is a form of salvation that saves everybody, because when trans Black women are liberated, so is everyone else! In Dorothy's House, our ways of healing, liberation, justice, love, inclusion., etc., are rooted in womanism.
We are non-sacrificial: we do not conform; we liberate.
We ask you to bring the fullness of yourself, whether you know who you really are or not; whether you're aware of your spiritual gifts or not; whether you know how to embody and trust your intuition or not; whether you are bold or sacred to answer your calling.
We believe it is a sin to ask you to conform: practicing spiritual beliefs, behaviors, ethics, mindsets, family traditions that teach you to deny your body and, therefore, your intuition. As intuition is rejected (not trusted or developed), we reject the pathway to knowing our highest self which is through our intuition.
To utilize our spiritual gifts, we must trust our intuition because spiritual gifts are intuitively based. So, we ask you to come as you are seeking healing, clarity, and shelter, trusting you will be nurtured as you are! #nomaskneeded

A Letter from Mamma Dot
I don't know you. I hope something I say resonates with you. I hope you understand and really see yourself in the work you're preparing to perform, you know, the work that lives in your womb. I'm speaking through my grandbaby, but I'm speaking to you.
I have repented in the sunset. I have repented in the sunset. Praise be to God I have repented in the sunset where we, the ancestors, thrive. It is a space you came from, the space where you first meet God. I am here with a heart resembling rainbows, proud of the work being done, proud that you're finally entertaining your curiosities. We are proud of YOU, Queen, Elizabeth. Not Queen Elizabeth, just Elizabeth.
**This is Cody speaking, my granny said to me: Elizabeth knows who she is**
Never be afraid of the terror of the night. Unconsciously, I hide there in colonized theology. A theology that pretends to grant freedom but really doesn't. A theology that misunderstands because it never took the time to understand, to know for the sake of self. The terror of the night is a facade; it's a mask because no knows wants to be uncomfortable. No one wants to do the real work of questioning and re-discovering except YOU! Ain't that why you here?
Whatever you take from this, take this: don't fear what's designed to trap you because it has no power. It's only a facade.
